Got the canon powershot sd990IS for my trip to Jamaica. I have owned several canon digital cameras in the past and this one is definitely the best one yet. This camera is so easy to use and all the options are very easy to get to. I recommend this camera to anyone looking for a point and shoot. The setting that I ended up liking the most was the sunset setting.

It comes soon and all the things described on the page are in the box. Besides, it brings lots of fun for me.

If you want this little new camera from Canon it's probably due to it's attractive body and small size, something Canon has done well in the past and managed to improve upon in the SD780 IS. If those two things are topping your list, don't bother reading this review. You've succeeded in finding a tiny, attractive little camera that can go just about anywhere. If quality and features also matter, it's more of a mixed bag. As usual, when you make a camera this small, the form factor means sacrifices in more practical areas. Nonetheless, Canon does a nice job all-around in giving you an excellent value despite the shortcomings inherent in pocket photographic devices.

For owners of small pocket cameras, it should come as no surprise that noise is the number one problem with this device. With a 12MP sensor, it's no wonder there's so much noise in every photo you take. Outdoors, indoors, pitch black, whatever: it doesn't matter. You will see noise no matter how well-lit your scene is, whether there are dark areas or not. This is a huge drawback if you're printing large photos. If you're like most people and only go beyond 4x6 or 5x7 for that occasional photo that warrants an 8x10, you don't have much to worry about. Though cramming 12MP into a tiny little sensor, like the one used in the SD780 IS, is certainly a cause of the high levels of noise, the resolution it provides makes the noise imperceptible when printing small photographs. You may notice it in an 8x10 photo taken at night, but for your smaller prints you should get by just fine.

Where noise is a bigger problem is in the video mode. Since the introduction of their 5D Mark II DSLR, Canon's begun to embrace high-definition video across their photographic line. Though few cameras in Canon's arsenal can capture HD video at this time, I believe by the end of 2009 it should be more the norm than the exception. While the SD780 IS doesn't capture 1080p video like the 5D Mark II, or it's (much) bigger brother the SX1S IS, 720p is quite a feat for a camera this small. It's comparable in size to the Flip Mino HD and only costs about $50 more (if you're comparing by suggested retail pricing). Though not as straightforward and simple as the Flip, by virtue of being a still camera first and a video device second, if you're looking for a device that does both and are willing to pay a little extra you've found it. The video quality in the Canon SD780 IS is more uniformly sharp (in daylight or indoors), though the Flip Mino HD tends to pick up slightly more detail in the distance (in daylight, not indoors). The SD780 IS gives you selective focus and stabilization. While you may not care for selective focus, the image stabilization offered in the SD780 IS is very nice to have when taking video clips. The image stabilizer allows for nice, smooth pans that are not offset by the "jello effect" you get with CMOS sensors. The Flip uses a CMOS and has that issue. The SD780 IS uses a CCD and does not. The SD780 also offers H.264 encoding at an average bit rate of about 24Mbps. For H.264 720p video, this is a very high bit rate from a device. Nonetheless, the files aren't too big. If you've got a 16GB SDHC card you'll get about an hour and a half of video. Where the Flip does a better job, however, is in noise.

Though the Flip isn't exactly the best device in low light, it still manages pretty well for a tiny little camera. The SD780 IS looks noisy in every situation. While the high megapixel rating keeps the noise harder to see in a photo, when you're dealing with 720p video the noise is very apparent. You can see it in perfect daylight, though it's not that bothersome, and you can really see it indoors regardless of the lighting. This is a noisy camera. Though it's forgivable in the photographs, in most cases, it really hurts the video mode. Given the limitations of the tiny hardware and the unfortunate megapixel race, noise reduction would've been nice. Nonetheless, if you're looking for an incredibly tiny device that records HD video, the SD780 IS should by high on your list by virtue of its stabilization.

Being that this is a primarily a still camera and not a video device, there are a lot of positives to look at. Let's start on the outside and work our way in. Canon's clearly put a lot of thought into the form factor. Regardless of what color you get, I think most will agree that this is a very attractive device. It's compact and light, so taking it with you will seem about the same as not taking it with you: you will often forget you have it. On one hand, that's very nice. On the other, make sure you don't lose it. Though it's not the smallest camera you can buy, it feels a lot smaller than it is. This could be an issue for some people. I've owned and/or reviewed a large number of consumer imaging devices and I've never run into the problems that some seem to have with button size. I've used a Sony camera that's a bit smaller than this one and had no issues, whatsoever, with accidental presses. The SD780 IS is the first device I've owned where I often make these mistakes. If you have big fingers, you will probably find this device extremely frustrating. For me, the problem is primarily with what I'll call the function wheel. Kind of like an iPod, in the center is a Function/Set button surrounded by a wheel of four other options. Though this is not a new interface for Canon, it's awfully small on the SD 780 and it's very easy to mistakenly push the wrong button on the wheel (or the center button). Personally, I don't find myself running into this problem too often because I'm not frequently changing settings. Nonetheless, it's something you should consider if you've had trouble with accidental button pushes in the past.

The other switches, however, are quite easy to deal with. The other four buttons on the back panel have quite a bit of space around them, even when not considering how small this camera is, and pushing them is no trouble at all. One is a switch that goes from automatic photo mode to custom photo mode to video mode. Though I've come to prefer separate buttons for starting a video and taking a photo, much like Sanyo does with their line of convergence cameras (which they're now calling "dual cameras"), this switch works well in the sense that it keeps you in the mode and saves you from remembering which button to push when you want something. More importantly, switching modes is about as fast as you could ask for. Though it's not my preferred way to switch modes (because I prefer the devices to seem like there's no switch at all), it doesn't really end up being a problem.

Lastly, there are two buttons on the top of the camera. One is for the shutter and the other is the power button. If you have large fingers, good luck pushing the power button. It's tiny and it isn't raised at all. I consider my fingers normal-sized and have no difficulty pushing the button but if you're concerned, go try the camera in a store before you buy it. As for the shutter, that's no problem at all. You half-depress to focus and press fully to take the photo, like you would with pretty much any digital camera on the market. There is also a zoom ring around the shutter button which has a tiny little edge to it for your finger to flick. It works quite well, despite being as tiny as it is. For the most part, the camera is very easy to control despite its size. Though you may have difficulty when changing settings, when it comes to general operation (aside from turning it on and off) you shouldn't run into issues.

My two favorite parts of the SD780 IS body are its large screen and port access. The screen is incredibly bright and clear, even at half brightness (which is where it starts out of the box and probably where you want to leave it), and is well protected by a glass covering. Smudging is easy to clean but be careful of scratches. The refresh rate of the screen is also excellent. Color accuracy is surprisingly good and realistic, assuming you're not using the "my colors" feature. I've come to expect less from Canon's devices (especially in the white balancing department) and I was pleasantly surprised. While that isn't entirely the display's job, what I see on the screen is what I see in reality. No complaints. If you prefer shooting from the viewfinder, which is perfectly reasonable, you will definitely be disappointed. The option is nice, of course, but it's so incredibly tiny that it seems more for show than for any actual use. I appreciate Canon's inclusion, but I can pretty much guarantee it will never be used for any practical purpose. My other favorite part is the port access, because it's exactly how I like it. In the top left corner (if you're looking at the back of the camera), you pull off this little piece of plastic to reveal a mini HDMI port and a mini USB port. There's no proprietary connections. It's nice to see a tiny camera not sacrifice connectivity for the sake of size. To transfer pictures, just pull the plastic covering away and plug the camera into your computer. The process is the same if you want to connect the camera via HDMI to your HDTV. Canon doesn't include the necessary cable, which is a shame, but being that I've never once connected my camera to a television I'm not really bothered. They do give you a standard definition cable, however, so you're not stranded with no options. On the bottom of the camera there is the usual slide-off access to the battery and memory card. Canon really crammed them both in there, but in a way that's impressive and not cumbersome. Additionally, they managed a tripod head mount on the bottom as well, and you can pull away a little rubber covering to reveal a hole for the tripod head's stabilizer (the little piece that doesn't screw in but holds the camera in place on the head).

Overall, the camera body has an excellent design. It's not only attractive but functional. The only drawback is the possibility of accidental button pushes, but that sort of comes with the territory.

What about the camera's features? We've already discussed video mode, which is excellent aside from the noise issues. The still camera features and controls are quite good all around, with only a few silly omissions. Let's start with the menu system. It's very simple. You press the menu button and you have two columns. One is the very simple camera options column, only giving you four choices, and the other is the function column giving you much more to do. In the camera options, you can turn certain functionalities on or off. Despite the paltry zoom on this device, which is to be expected due to its size, I'd recommend turning off digital zoom. It's on by default. Why it is even included in cameras is something I've never quite understood. As for the functions menu, you have a number of basic functions (display brightness, card formatting, etc.) but also some superfluous functions like changing the sound effects and the camera's startup image. You don't get many choices, and the dog bark shutter sound is absent from this device (which I always loved), but you get choices nonetheless. If you don't want sound effects at all, there is a mute feature. You should note, however, that this camera makes noise on startup nonetheless. The body is a little noisy on its own. The image stabilizer also sounds like a fan is running. I haven't heard the microphone pick up this noise in video mode, but if operation noise is a problem for you for whatever reason you can minimize it by turning off image stabilization. That said, aside from getting a couple of extra pictures out of your battery life, I can't imagine why you'd ever want to turn it off.

Canon's autofocus has lagged behind Nikon's in the DSLR market, in my opinion, but in their consumer devices I've been pretty pleased with how well it works. Autofocus is very fast and, in my experience so far, very accurate. The only problem I've consistently run into is the minimum focal distance in normal mode. Turning on macro mode solves the problem, and seems to be the most versatile mode (as it has no problem, unlike some consumer cameras, focusing far off as well). The unfortunate issue with macro focus is that it resets every time you switch modes or turn the camera off. If you want it on, you need to set it every single time. It would be nice to either be able to change the default or for the camera to automatically switch to macro when it can't manage to focus due to its proximity to the subject.

The flash does a pretty good job for being so tiny. Even from far away, it does well. Oddly enough, close subjects were not as blown out as I'd expected. Often times the photos looked surprisingly natural for a flash. Nonetheless, since you're getting image noise regardless, I recommend shooting with higher ISOs if you have a reasonable amount of light in the room. It still tends to look more natural, especially after a little color correction.

Exposure controls and the self-timer meet expectations. There's not a lot of room for innovation with these features, but you can adjust what I can only assume is the gain before taking a photo. Perhaps you're adjusting shutter speed, though I'm not sure. You can also set a self-timer for 2 or 10 seconds. Actually being able to choose the time would be a nice step up, but I don't think many have complained about the options given. They work just fine.

The SD780 IS also includes many superfluous but fun features common to Canon's consumer line. My Colors is one of them. They give you so many different color modes (including positive film, monotone and sepia) I don't know why you'd want to create your own, but you do have that option. You can also shoot in black and white with a color accent, if you're trying to create the feel of Schindler's List in your family photos (hopefully that includes no one), or just swap colors for whatever reason you'd want to do that.

Playback mode is excellent. It's very easy to zoom in and out on your photos and navigate through them. You can even display a histogram and EXIF data while looking at the photo, which is pretty excessive but cool for a consumer device. Video playback provides a wealth of control, which even includes in-camera editing. This isn't terribly new to Canon's devices but it's still nice. Personally, I'd rather edit outside of the camera but if you need space on your card and don't have a spare it might be a good way to solve that issue (assuming you have parts of your videos that you want to remove).

As far as silly omissions go, when selecting an image size you can get the normal 4:3 or 16:9 (likely a result of the video mode). Where's the 3:2 option? Digital cameras have pioneered the 4:3 format, which, personally, I do not like. When printing a 4x6 photo I'd prefer to avoid cropping. Both 4:3 and 16:9 require cropping, which is unfortunate. It seems ridiculous to not offer 3:2 shooting, but then again that's not the norm with these devices. I think that's unfortunate. As I've mentioned previously, the lack of an HDMI cable and noise reduction is also too bad. The HDMI is understandable as this camera is pretty inexpensive (and you'd never know that by looking at it), but noise reduction is sorely missed. It's no replacement for an actual lack of noise, but a little bit would go a long way with this device.

The battery life is surprisingly good. Perhaps I feel that way because I haven't used a camera this small in a long time, but being that it can make it through the day given all the crap I put it through with room to spare, I'm impressed. The camera also comes with a separate charger, which is great if you want to pick up a spare battery. It's also very easy for travel. Though I always prefer the option, at least, to charge via USB (in case I forget the charger or don't want to bother bringing it with me), the provided charger is very compact and makes charging the battery an easy thing to do. The only downside is that you constantly have to remove the battery from the camera, but they make that access easy enough (as described earlier).

Overall, there's a lot to like about the Canon SD780 IS. The noise issue is the biggest drawback, but educated buyers should know to expect this when purchasing a pocket device. Everything else is mostly trivial. Though the noise issues are a major drawback, especially if you're interested in the mostly great HD video mode, this is a great little camera and well worth the price thanks to the HD video mode.

In summary...

+ Attractive, tiny size and solid build

+ Surprisingly good battery life

+ Big, bright, color-accurate display

+ Menu system and on-screen interface is attractive and easy to use

+ Forgetting the noise issues, video mode is very good providing 720p video in H.264 with a high bit rate (average of 24Mbps)

+ Easy access to ports and easy to transfer photos or display them on your (HD)TV

+ The flash is surprisingly effective without being excessively bright

+ Inexpensive for what you get

= Very high resolution photos, though this comes at a cost (6 to 8 MP seems like a more logical choice)

= Image stabilization is excellent considering the size, but isn't what you get with a larger device

= Has a viewfinder, though it's pretty much useless

= Many superfluous but fun features, mainly color-related

- Physical buttons are often too small and accidental pushes are commonplace

- Images and video are extremely noisy, no matter the lighting conditions

Happy As A Clam. I'm completely satisfied with the A470. Neat little camera and great pictures. Canon PowerShot A470 Orange takes awhile to get through the 184 page user's manual but hang in there, you'll be glad you did.
Great camera for the money. I'm no professional photographer...just like having a simple camera that takes quality pictures. Canon PowerShot A470 Orange one is simple, the pictures are high quality and it's really easy to use. I like the large view screen too. Very good value.
Great Camera for the price!. I bought this camera for my 8 year old daughter to use (she has taken great photos with it). Canon PowerShot A470 Orange is a simple camera, with not a huge number of settings and great video capacity. I also ended using Canon PowerShot A470 Orange a lot because Canon PowerShot A470 Orange is so light weight and compact (can fit in a pocket). We are very happy with this camera and with good rechargeable batteries Canon PowerShot A470 Orange has a nice battery life. A "1 G card" works well, you should buy one with the camera. I would recommend this camera.

Movie record in unsuported MOV format. I had the SD800 and just got the SD880 today.

And after 5 minutes I decided I am going to return. SD800 recorded movies in AVI format. SD880 in mov file format. mov format does not work in Windows Media Player or Photo Gallery. And I am not installing 3rd party software to either convert Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink or watch Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink

So don't make my mistake, get a camera that does AVI movies.
Poor pictures. Don't buy Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink camera!! It's imposible to take a "good" picture at night or outdoors with out day light. Blury photos with somethings like "leaks" over any dark zone...
Perfect. I knew what I was looking for when I purchased this "point & shoot" camera and Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink has lived up to all of my expectations. Canon is a great brand name and I've never been disappointed in any of their products.
With 10MP the picture quality is great and Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink has a myriad of settings for capturing the perfect shot.

Fantastic camera for the price. I'm a bird watching freak and wanted a camera that would allow me to get closer to my subjects and capture fast motion (birds in flight). This camera does not disappoint! With the 20x optical zoom, I can get as close as I need to without sacrificing picture quality. I received Canon PowerShot A2100IS yesterday morning and went out the birdfeeder to practice with it. In 30 minutes, I managed 10 of the best bird photos I've ever taken. I also went over to Lowe's garden center and photographed new spring flowers and am very happy with the colors. A butterfly made an appearance and became an unknowing subject thanks to the 20x zoom. The pictures are just gorgeous! I really love this camera.
Very pleased. I have had this camera for 2 months now. Have used Canon PowerShot A2100IS in every circumstand I can think of. I have been very pleased.

1) battery life. Alkaline battery life is only about 100 pics for me. I use Rayovac Hybrids and I can easly take 400 pics with these. I imagine with Lithium you could reach 600.

2) picture quality. Canon PowerShot A2100IS isn't an DSLR but sure is close. Qualtiy is very good in any lighting conditions. You should be able to print any picture any size you want.

3) Zoom. Amazing. I have taken pictures zoomed all the way with out a tripod and they are almost as clear as if I was right on top of item. The image stablaization worked perfect everytime. (I do not use the digital zoom)

4) Video - Love the dedicated button for video. I have had many cameras where I always wished they had something like this. The qualtiy is not HD and you can buy their model that has Canon PowerShot A2100IS for $200 more but I don't know that Canon PowerShot A2100IS is worth it. The video quality is great in my opinion. If you really want an HD video camera I would suggest buying a seperate HD video camera.

5) features - lot and lots of great features. The color swap and where you can make everything black and white except one color is pretty nice.

6) ease of use. Everything seems really intuitive to me. Everything is right where Canon PowerShot A2100IS should be.

I don't think you can go wrong with this one. I did a ton of research and dpreview.com and digitalcamerareview.com before I bought this utla zoom camera. Thought about getting a DSLR but I really wanted the zoom. You can get this great camera that would probably meet your needs for under $400 or easliy spend $1200 to get a comprable DSLR with this zoom capacity.
I like it.. I'd looked for a camera to amateurs, sporadic jobs, hobbies, etc. with some goodies and semi-professional works. When I saw Canon PowerShot A2100IS model, I thought that's my camera. Now I try to know its capabilities, and let me tell you, its a lot. I'll never imagined its versatility and functionality. I like so much, and even learn all about, because its necessary. If you are seemed as me, I recommend you Canon PowerShot A2100IS camera.

Love my new camera!. Love It! This is my 1st Digital Camera. I was wanting a camera to use basically for family, sports, and outdoor shots. I took my selection down to 2 cameras - this one, the Canon Powershot SX110IS and the Sony Cybershot DSC-H-10 Digital Camera. I really liked the Sony and probably would have purchased that one, except they advertise a 3" screen, but the images shown on the screen only used 2" of the screen. There is a black border on top and on bottom, just like the wide screen movies on your TV. Plus there is no lens cover. One of my "requirements" was to have a 3" screen, which I love. The 10x zoom is great; pictures are clear and beautiful. The only issues that may bother some are: 1) Slight delay on 1st shot 2) The Flash has to be manually raised; This is a great camera and would definitely recommend Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver to others.
Two Thumbs Up. I did more than my fair share of research before purchasing this camera. I actually purchased it, exchanged Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver for a different camera and then came back to this one for its superior quality. We wanted a camera with a decent zoom and unfortunately, that means you don't get a pocket-sized camera-it's a trade-off. The LCD screen is large and the image is clear and bright, not grainy like some cameras. The video feature, which we tried the other day, is a nice add-on. Yes, you don't have the option to zoom in, but that's why you buy a camcorder. It's a nice feature to have on the camera for those days you don't have that along. The menu is easy to use and I like being able to adjust as much or as little as I want. I wasn't sure whether I'd like a pop-up flash, but Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver becomes pretty automatic to put Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver up and if you don't, the camera reminds you. Lastly, I like being able to review my pictures without turning the camera on. There is some lag time after a picture has been taken, but I am still using the memory card Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver came with while awaiting the arrival of my new one. Once I have rechargeable batteries (I ordered Eneloop, which was recommended to me) and my Ultra II memory card, I expect to see some difference. All in all, I am quite happy with this product.
Great camera!. I bought this camera as soon as Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver came out. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver is my third Canon and I have always been happy with this brand. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver takes beautiful pictures and has a huge view finder. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver is very clear and the stabilized zoom is a huge help in eliminating blurry pictures. If I had any complaints about the camera Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver is that the time between taking pictures seems to be longer than on other cameras, but the pop up flash is a huge bonus and makes Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver worth the wait. I would highly recommend this camera.

Perfect hand full. This camera represented an upgrade from my old Canon S3 IS and, boy, am I pleased. Image sharpness is very important to me and the SX10 delivers. The faster shutter response and quick focus is wonderful. Low light level conditions result in far less noise and I find I'm using my flash less as a result. The camera fits my hand better than the old S3 but both were/are a bit slicker than I like. And yes, the lens cap sucks; it's hard to remove quickly and I've already lost Canon PowerShot SD1200IS once. Ah, but the camera itself is great!
GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. This camera is the latest in the PowerShot "S" model line. As one of the first buyers of an S3 - I fell in love with my S3. BUT today my love has soured, after 2 1/2 years I got a lens error message and the lens keeps moving in and out until I shut Canon PowerShot SD1200IS off. A quick internet search will show you that this is a common problem. My camera has never been abused, dropped, or used in sand. Since, my camera is out of warranty Canon PowerShot SD1200IS will cost $150 to fix (provided Canon PowerShot SD1200IS does not need additional parts) - roughly a 1/3 of the price of this camera. None of the suggested fixes from the various websites corrected the problem. I still like the camera but had to resort to my trusty AE-1 film camera for holiday photos! I'll probably get Canon PowerShot SD1200IS fixed but my word of warning is that since this camera is in the same "family" of Canon digitals - you might want to consider an extended warranty.
I love it. I simply love it. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS is the best camera in Canon PowerShot SD1200IS price range. A good starting point for learning about photography as well.

Great Camera. I love this camera and so do some of my friends. It's compact and Canon PowerShot A1100IS takes GREAT pics. It's exactly what I needed.
Very good camera. Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. This is a very good point and shoot Camera. I had a Kodak point and shoot (a $200 camera five years ago) stolen from me in June and this was the replacement. I'm not compairing the two but there is a pro and con here.
The Kodak was my very first digital camera and I thought Canon PowerShot A1100IS was the greatest. Canon PowerShot A1100IS was only a 3 MP with a 3x zoom. I used the crap out of that camera and Canon PowerShot A1100IS never failed me. I probably have taken 15,000+ pictures with it. I researched many point and shoots to replace it. The best one I found for the price is the Canon SD1100. I went to a Best Buy and spent an hour playing with all the cameras. I wanted one that would power-up real fast and be very quick between pix. This was the one. The clearity of the pictures are awesome. Color is great, operation is easy, fun to use. I have taken about 500 pictures and they have turned out very good. My favorite aspect of this camera is the Macro. Canon PowerShot A1100IS is so tight. When I look at the final pic, Canon PowerShot A1100IS is crazy tight. I really am pleased with it. My only issue I have with the camera is I can't do a fill flash. I do a lot of car shows and need a flash for interior shots. (The Kodak was flawless on the fill flash) Overall I really do like this camera and would definitely recommend it. Absolutely the camera to go in the shirt pocket for the quick don't miss "that picture". Money very well spent.
ink cartridige would not work. only complaint could not print anything with the ink that was supplied ---was not told that I was supplied with only 5 prints plus ink? new ink and prints from best buy worked fine I enjoy Canon PowerShot A1100IS .

I love my new camera. Canon A480 10 MP Black camera is great. Long battery life.Easy to use. Small and Compact. Tons of different features and colors. Sleek and Sexy. What more do you want?
excellent camera!. I bought this camera after using my sister's 2007 Canon model SD 1100 and I love it! Canon A480 10 MP Black has excellent video quality, which was important to me, and takes clean, crisp photos. I love how user friendly Canon A480 10 MP Black is, I haven't needed to open the owner's manual once since I got Canon A480 10 MP Black a month ago. Everything is very straight forward and simple to navigate and the photos speak for themselves. This camera is also extremely light weight and comes in some pretty funky colors. Its a really great buy at an affordable price!
Great camera, great price!. I got this camera for my husband on the occasion of the birth of our 2nd child. Picture quality is excellent and he has even shot some videos. Easy to use and download to computer. His only complaint is that Canon A480 10 MP Black is small and easy to misplace! Canon A480 10 MP Black is amazing how far camera technology has come. My old camera (canon powershot 4 years old) is much bulkier! Canon lenses are always high quality.

Amazing camera. I got my A590IS about 3 weeks ago and it's amazing how versatile Canon A480 10 MP Silver is.
I also like its solid feel and semipro look. Everyone who has seen Canon A480 10 MP Silver wants to get one.The pictures are sharp and colors are balanced and natural. This camera is simply unbeatable for the price.I'm a happy man.
Very good camera for price. I gave Canon A480 10 MP Silver camera to my son and his fiance and they simply love it.
It's not too complicated, has lots of features and takes great photos.
A great gift product even for the techno-challenged. This product is easy to use. I gave this gift to my mother who only just recently bought her first computer. She really does not enjoy any technical gadget but she enjoyed seeing our digital images. I wanted something that was easy to use and would produce nice images without need for major assistance since we live so far away from her. She was able to learn how to use this camera with little help and is taking great pictures. This is probably the first gadget she has ever loved because Canon A480 10 MP Silver is so simple to use.

Camera perfect for purpose. Our eight-year-old was very excited when he received this camera for his birthday. Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue is so simple to use that he was able to take pictures immediately. Now his whole family borrows to capture images they want.
All round solid camera. This camera is a great buy. Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue has tons of features and takes quality pictures. Specifically, my wife and I really like the microphone and speaker that are built into the camera - picks up sound well for videos and also makes Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue very easy to review AND HEAR videos on the camera. The menus are intuitive too and easy to navigate. Overall, this camera is an excellent purchase. By the way, Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue comes with a 32MB SD card, which is basically worthless when each 7MP shot is just under 2MB. So, remember to pick up larger SD card (2GB seems to be working pretty well for us currently - haven't tried an HDSC card yet).
Good Camera. I bought Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue for my mom as a birthday gift and she loves it. Good quality pictures and easy to use

Fantastic Little Camera!! . I researched for some time to upgrade from a Canon A570 point and shoot...a nice camera but not up to my skill level at photography. So I came upon the Rebels and the new XS. I am very pleased with the outcomes so far. Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver is very easy to use, being familiar with Canon products and the autolevels are accurate.
Fantastic camera, everyone who has looked at my photos want to know what camera.
Fantastic Camera. I purchased the Canon Rebel XS a few weeks ago and I love it. I have a problem with "shaky hands" and the Image Stabilization helps me immensly. I also purchased the 250mm IS lens along with the 50mm 1:1.8 lens. The 50mm does not have IS but I love Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver lens. I recently did some photos of children and Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver lens really did the job, they were great! I highly recommend Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver Canon as well as the lenses.
Awesome Camera!. Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver is my first digital SLR and I can tell the difference between the small digital cameras and the SLRs. It's really easy to use and lightweight to carry wherever you go, but the most amazing part are the amazing pictures you can achieve with Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver camera. If you are looking for a new camera ot to upgrade from plain digital to digital SLR, Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver is what you are looking for!

Canon AA Battery recharger. Works great! Best to own 8 AA rechargable batteries so you always have 4 to change out. I like Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery .
Canon Battery Charger. I recently purchase a new Canon Digital camera. I was going through batteries like crazy. I went to Amazon to look up what kind of rechargables were recommended. Bought the charger they suggested and LOVE IT!! I love Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery .
Excellent, but slow to charge. I've owned my Canon camera and this charger and battery combo for several years now. I don't use the camera very frequently, but when I do, I use Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery a lot (on vacation, at a family event) and wind up taking around one-hundred pictures or so with many of them using the flash.

These batteries are always ready to go, even if they have been sitting in the camera for months. They never run down on me during use. The charger is only a little larger than the batteries themselves and plugs directly into the wall socket (no "wall wart" or power cord needed). The prongs for the power plug fold into the charger so Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery packs down to a very small package, which means you'll probably bring Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery with you on vacation and you'll have Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery when you need it.

The only drawback I would say is that the charger is of the "charge them overnight" variety. It's not fast, but Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery does the job. As long as you aren't looking for a quick charger, I'd recommend this one.

super canon. this camera is freaking awesome.but {notice}:the lens that comes with Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera is good for starting but very limited depending on the things you are going to be getting into. weddings, sports, etc... you'll need to make sure to be ready to buy the necessary accessories for the camera. because the camera is really amazing and extremely user friendly for those slower than most. but you won't be able to utilize the camera's fullest potential without better lenses. great buy though!!
Great Camera. This camera is everything I expected Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera to be... Although a longer lense would be a great addition
Great for astrophotography. I love this camera. With the Live View, all I do is hook Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera up to my laptop, and find a bright star, and magnify the view on the laptop and I can focus in seconds. With the Xti and no Live View, Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera was a long, painful process that never really focused right. Once focused, I can take several long exposure pictures with no problem. Much less noise at higher ISO's than the Xti. I was able to get great pictures, first night out.

For other uses, its a great camera as well!

The Canon CBK4-300 AA Battery and Charger Kit . When I searched to purchase this my friend Charlie recommended Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery too, so I knew Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery would be great. You don't have to worry about constantly changing the battery. Also, this is the perfect time to buy Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery so you don't have get the one battery can work on every camera.

Bob

There are better alternatives available at lower cost. I usually stay with Canon accessories for my Canon cameras, just for the 'peace of mind' I can expect from the same manufacturer. But in Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery case, I see no reasons to choose Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery package (Canon CBK4-300 Battery and Charger Kit) just because of the brand name. Consider the following facts:

1. Canon is not a battery manufacturer. So those 2500mAh rechargeable NiMH cells are simply re-labeled from other vendors.

2. All 2500mA NiMH cells in the market are plagued by the problem of high self-discharge rate. That is, if you charge up a set of those AA cells and leave them in your camera for a few weeks, they may become completely drained before you can take any pictures.

For the price of Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery Canon battery and charger kit, you can buy an equally good 'smart' charger (for example, the Sony BCG-34HE4), plus eight of the latest generation LSD (low-self-discharge) cells such as SANYO eneloop, Rayovac Hybrid, or Kodak Pre-Charged. Even though their stated capacities appear lower at 2000-2100mAh, those cells can hold 80% of their charge for 6 months or longer. So you don't always have to recharge your camera's batteries the night before, and you can keep another set of charged batteries as standby. Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery makes LSD cells much more suitable for digital camera applications.

Personally, I have retired all of my old-genreation (2500mAh) NiMH cells, and am using only LSD cells in photo equipment now.
battery charger. Excelent product.I get about 15 times the life of ordinary batteries. I would reccomend to anybody who uses their camera a lot I like Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery .

Will Shop here again. Good Price Good Shipping information and tracking. No Problems.
Received as advertised.

Good starter camera, Light weight, decent lens in kit. Enough bells and whistles to wow the beginner and carry you into quality photography. Also looked at 40D but Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP is heavier and more complex than I needed to start with.
are you looking for a good DSLR that does not break the bank? This is it.. i sold my beloved Nikon D70 after four years of use. I still miss it. I purchased a D40, but Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP never felt right. Picture quality was good, better than the D70, but I had to go through menus to do most everything (changing white balance, ISO, formatting the card, you name it), whereas the D70 had dedicated buttons. That makes all the difference in usability. Besides, the D40 does not even autofocus with my beloved 50mm 1.8 lens. Are you kidding me? I returned the D40 after 3 days of use.

I was lookind at the D80, 40D, the D300, the XTI, and this one. All good cameras (at the end of the day, they all take excellent pictures). it's the usability/sweet price/new features factor that counts. 40D and D300 are expensive for me (not a pro). The XTI is getting old (still good though, and very good price). The D80 is very good, a bigger brother of my beloved d70, but still old: no sensor cleaning, to highlight tone priority, does not ship with a bundled VR lens. You are basically buying a 2006 camera in 2008. I did not like that.

I found this XSI at Circuit City. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP felt right in my small hands. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP had most of the buttons I need to make changes quickly. I still have to go to a menu to set my custom white balance (the D70 had a button for that). Same thing to format the card (button combination on the D70). Auto ISO is not as smart as Nikon's implementation. Other than that, the camera is excellent. All the other buttons are there. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP has an RGB histogram (very important; Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP lets you see if you are clipping individual colors). Picture quality is great. Very little noise (Canon's CMOS sensor is cleaner than Nikon's CCD on the D80), very pleasing skin tones (I take lots of pictures of my daughter and wife).

If the D80 had the same 2008 features as this one (highlight tone priority, self-cleaning sensor, bundled VR lens), I would have gotten that one. It's still a great camera. This one is just a 2008 camera with features found in the semi-pro 40D and the pro 1DS.

I'm very happy with it.
Great cam.... I've had Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP cam for about 4 months now. It's great. Came from a Canon 20D, so though technically it's a downgrade, it's really a superior cam in terms of image quality and performance. I like the small size - the main motivation for not going with a 40D - I can shoot one-handed all day long doing street photography.

Most of the pix on my photoblog below were snapped with the XSi...

Awesome. I have an older Canon digital camera, but Canon PowerShot SD is so awesome. I went to see a basketball game and was sitting further away from the court and I still can take good images. Hands down good price and good product. I love canon powershot a480 10 mp . Nice little camera. I bought this camera for my wife who hasn't had a digital camera, would occasionally use a little black film camera for snapshots. All the kids (now college or past) have the predecessor for this model and love it. It's easy to use, intuitive, although canon powershot a480 10 mp is unlikely she'll ever whoot video with it. She'll rely on me to download and Photoshop the results, but it'll be invaluable when she takes that cruise with her sister and mother this winter. canon powershot a480 10 mp fits right in a pocket, and our son's underwater case will work for those snorkeling pictures. Great Camera!. Just purchased this camera as a replacement for an older HP camera we have. I have to say that I love this camera! We read about the great reviews for canon powershot a480 10 mp on Amazon and canon powershot a480 10 mp was also ranked very well by Consumer Reports. The camera takes great photos at night. We were in NYC over the weekend and I am so impressed with the crispness of our photos. Both the daytime and the nightime photos look great. We are only amateurs photographers. I like that this camera is very small and can fit in your pocket. It's not much bigger than our cell phone. We made a great decision. canon powershot a480 10 mp is the best camera we have owned.

Wonderful gift for our daughter!. My daughter had admired her friend's Sony Cybershot, 10MP Digital Camera and asked that we give canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp too her for Christmas and Birthday. Her friend loves her camera and offered to assist in down-loading and any other needs. When we found the 12.1MP for about the same price we expected to pay for the 10MP, we jumped on it. Our daughter has not stopped taking pictures, they all turn out beautifully and her partner takes as many photos as she does. She is thrilled. Now, I'll have to save to get the same camera for our house!
Excellent Sony Product!. I was very pleased with this camera. I had owned before, but recently, the W80 and W90 Sony cybershots. And now I have purchased this one, I can tell you canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp is a great camera. The resolution is impecable. I trully recommend canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp to those who want the best for non-Pro photographers.
Takes GREAT pictures in Low Lighting!. I bought this camera because Consumer Reports rated canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp #1 for subcompact digital cameras. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp was also only $299 here on Amazon.com (the price listed today is over $400). I have four criteria when canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp comes to a compact digital camera.

1. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp must have a fast response time, both when I turn canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp on and in between shots. This Sony Cybershot is AWESOME. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp is literally on and ready to shoot within milliseconds of hitting the power button. There's also NO delay between shots, which has been the bane of all the digital cameras I've ever owned. The ability to go from shot to shot without worrying about missing a great action photo or having to twiddle my thumbs while canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp writes to the compact flash or smart disk is a god send.

2. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp must take GREAT shots in low lighting. I don't know how many crappy photos I've taken indoors at parties, museums, and more. I know we all have, even with those cameras that have 'indoor' modes but require a tripod to take a clear picture. Well, this baby takes absolutely stunning low light photos using ISO or ISO+ mode. They are clear and not at all blurry. Check out the photos I uploaded from a visit to a local aquarium in the Jelly Fish exhibit (where it's as dark as night in there). Not only did I NOT have to use a tripod to get a clear shot, but the photos came out rich in color and detail, especially considering this is not a DSLR.

3. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp must have several scene modes. I am addicted to these modes as they often save me from some very bad shots. I am clueless on how to set anything manually. This camera offers a nice selection of scene modes, my favorite so far being the ISO+ for low light, indoor settings. But the landscape, portrait, and other modes have all proved equally adept at clear, brilliant pictures.

4. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp must have a large LCD. My last digital camera had a 1.8" LCD and canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp was painfully small. I often couldn't tell that shots were out of focus until I imported them to my desktop. The Sony Cybershot has a vividly clear LCD that is large and bright, perfect for spotting bad shots on the spot. No more wondering if I've taken a good photo or not.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the Sony Cybershot. The only reason I'm not giving canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp 5 stars is because canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp only has 3X optical zoom, up to 6X with digital. My last digital camera had 12X with digital zoom, and canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp was disappointing to find that even though I was buying a higher end subcompact camera, the zoom was a bit on the skimpy side.

Nevertheless, I won't be using my old digital camera even with its 12X zoom because the Sony blows canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp out of the water in terms of picture quality, compactness, and speed.

very satisfied!. every option is great!
quality of pitures is also nice!
as a popular product, Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP gives me satisfaction.

I'm a photographer and this camera is awful!!!. I've had at least a dozen digital cameras over the past seven years. My main camera is a digital SLR, but I like to have a small pocket size camera to keep in my purse. I was upgrading from a 5 MP camera and read tons of reviews on this camera.... pretty much everything I read said this was an awesome camera and I loved the price tag, so I got it. I have never been so disappointed in a camera! The pictures are almost always out of focus, and unless you're in *really* good light, the pictures are very grainy! And probably the most annoying part is that you have to wait a long time for Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP to say it's ready to take the picture.... and then Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP still turns out blury! I messed with Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP for almost two weeks and finally gave up. I returned Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP and ended up with the Digital Elph - the MP's aren't as high, but Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP takes really nice pictures and a heck of a lot faster! I will never buy a nikon point and shoot again.
Nikon P5100. Just replaced my Nikon P5000 with the newer P5100. Less noise than the earlier version. Better pictures than my D200. Worth Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP all around

charlse. Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP is a fancy looking reliable camera. I am pretty satisfied by its performance. The only problem is that the battery case is too loose. Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP often open accidentally.

Nearly perfect compact point and shoot camera - and more!. I'm a Canon convert with this camera. I've had several small point and shoot cameras - this is hands-down the best I've owned. The previous one had some serious issues with the images, they were over-processed - detail was fuzzed out and there was nothing you could do about it. Some of the megapixel race cameras (that was 10mp) have issues because of that in-camera processing. This Canon has absolutely excellent quality images, and the camera is everything I could hope for in a camera this size. I'm amazed how well the SD950 captures the essence of light - previous cameras have been a compromise but this camera captures sunsets, clouds, vegetation, people with life-like colors. The face recognition technology makes amazingly good people shots. I like the tiny format for being able to take Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP with me all the time - I can bring my DSLR on planned outings, but the little Canon is always ready.

I have pretty big hands and this camera is easy for me to grip and handle - other reviews noted this and they are absolutely correct. Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP looks sleek and smooth, but it's nearly perfect in terms of gripping Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP and controlling it.

All-in-all, this seems to be the nearly perfect shirt pocket point and shoot camera!

Pros:

Pocketable, viewfinder (small but better than not having one), bright and wide view LCD display, intuitive simple controls, nice telephoto zoom, image stabilization, easy menu operation, automatic modes almost always capture what you want, excellent - especially for a 12mp camera - images, superb movie mode, decent album and editing software, easy downloading.

Cons:

Limited manual operation, while shooting, thumb can open battery door if you're not careful, USB door barely opens enough to get plug in.
Great Compact Camera. I purchased the SD950 about 2 weeks ago when I sold my Canon G7 on Amazon. The G7 was a better camera. Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP took better indoor pictures, have more manual controls, and it's in black and doesn't show any picture prints.
However, the SD950 is only better in turns of size. It's a compact camera that you can carry Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP all way long just in case you need to take a shot.
The G7 is bulky and heavy, so you don't really want to carry Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP around for no reason. The G9 is the same except for some difference like Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP can record in RAW format and the LCD can swing out. The G9 is the best camera with movie mode out in the market if you don't mind the weight and size.

Camera review. The Canon camera is easy to use with reasonable quality phots. A user friendly little tool. I like Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple .
Great camera for the price. I am not a photographer so I needed a camera that would take a professional looking picture with as little input from me as possible. This camera succeeds. Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple takes a good picture for the price. I've seen better pictures taken with more expensive cameras. But I am very pleased with the product and satified with the purchase.
This is the best camera I have ever owned. This camera is very user friendly. Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple has a large assortment of functions that you can learn quickly and utilize to take great shots. Enlargements remain sharp. Easy download from camera to computer or for printing. I like that you use regular batteries rather then having to recharge an internal battery. This allows you to avoid any down time. Only thing I wish worked faster was the flash recyle. Other then that, this camera is very much a 5 star product.

32mb card is insulting. The camera might be fine, but the included 32 megabyte memory card is an absolute insult to all of their customers. 8 gigabyte memory cards are currently selling for $10 on Amazon, why is Canon insulting their customers with a 32 megabyte memory card? Canon should have included at least a 1 gigabyte memory card. I enjoy Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver .
Digital Camera. Great product. I was totally pleased with my Canon camera. I have two new babies in the family and I'm able to capture crystal clear moments and have the memories to cherish. My last digital camera was a disappointment because many images captured were blurry. I enjoy Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver .
Canon Powershot 14.7mp is Mini but Mighty. The Canon Powershot 14.7mp is the best. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver goes any and everywhere. Its features are unlimited. The price $299.00 is great, unbeatable. Pictures and videos are remarkable. I have a Canon Powershot 5.0mp, Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver still works great. I paid $500.00 for Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver when Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver first came out years ago. I am totally 100% happy with my Canon Powershot 14.7 mp. I would recommend it, Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver is great.

User friendly. This is my first digital camera and I researched several before choosing the SD770IS. Canon PowerShot SD770 IS 10MP Silver is everything I hoped for and more. Easy to operate, yet professional enough to satisfy my requirements. Picture quality is top notch. The display is large for easy viewing which was one of my issues for other cameras. Am happy with my choice and would highly recommend this camera for anyone.
Excellent picture quality, sleek design and easy to use. I was even amazed at the quality of the vedio that was captured and sound quality was brilliant I like Canon PowerShot SD770 IS 10MP Silver .
AMAZING CAMERA!!. I am in love with this camera. I love taking pictures on vacations and blowing them up to frame..and this camera's high quality photos are perfect for that. The camera itself is so small, light, and easy to use..so it's also perfect for slipping in my clutch to bring out at night. I have NEVER seen a camera with such a long battery life- it's unbelievable! I have used mine for a month, taking about 1,000 photos and a few videos, and Canon PowerShot SD770 IS 10MP Silver STILL has 3 out of 3 battery bars. I can't get over that. I highly recommend this camera for anyone!

Happy Photog. I LOVE my new camera. I am always the person with the camera, so, Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver is important Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver be lightweight and idiot proof...this camera is both. ZOOM is great, pics are still clear. The time between shots is more then I wanted, but, I am hoping that is just a setting issue.
Canon Powershot Camera. I am very pleased with my Canon camera. Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver was delivered very promptly, just as was promised. Excellent!!
Can you handle it? I can't...... Personally, I think I purchased too much camera! I was looking for an easy point and shoot with a good zoom. The camera is a little bigger than I expected and already presented a problem when I was out with my friends and family. I kept putting the camera away instead holding on to it. The time in between pics for the flash to recharge is unacceptable! After reading so many reviews Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver seems the cameras with AA batteries tend to have a delay in between pics, why I don't know. That alone has steered me away from this camera. I'm a mom of 2 active boys and I wanted a camera that's easy to take along, take quick pics and easy to learn. The camera however, does take amazing pics and great video. However, a ton of my pics came out blurry, especially if I didn't remember to lift up the flash which I never did. There is just too much too learn with this camera and just too many features and setting. A little too overwhelming for me. Curious as to why the flash recharge is so long? Does anyone know? So I'm returning this camera and getting my SD750 fixed for the $100 Canon is going to charge me or I'm getting the A590is, not sure. Suggestions welcomed.

This camera is awesome!. I am by no means a camera expert, I do not know how the majority of the functions work on this camera - but I will say Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical takes outstanding photos. There is no blurring even at the tighest zoom. The image stabilizer works superb. I mostly take photos of the kids and I have not had any problem with shutter speed or the time between taking pictures. I had a Canon prior to this and this one is much better. I am very happy with my camera!
From A720IS to A2000, it's still better. As an owner of an A720IS and recently bought the A2000IS, I much prefer the A2000. By and far, it's not perfect, but what digital camera really is?

There's a complaint about the wedge shape, but the camera is far smaller than the previous A series, which has an even more unusual shape that makes Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical bulky and very difficult to fit in most compact digital camera bags (which for the A2000 is a TON easier, not to mention easier to fit in a pocket). I'd take smaller and unusual but sleeker over larger, bulky, and awkward.

Another complaint was the flash recycle time; what do you expect with AA batteries? When the A series used 4 AA batteries, I'm sure this wasn't as much of an issue, but the camera was ridiculously huge and heavy. If you want smaller recycle times, go buy a camera with Lithium-Ion batteries. The A2000 had at worst a little longer recycle time than the A720, but I've learned to live with it; I have to be a little more careful with my shots rather than just shooting away as if I had a SLR.

With that professional reviewer, I think he's being a bit nitpicky. I had no problems with the dial, as I use all the settings, including the manual modes very often. Unless you want perfection...well, let's be honest, if you want a monster camera, you should be looking for a SLR.

The short of it: I love my A720IS, but the size is a huge burden. If you can live with the longer flash recycle times than the SD series (which I've gotten used to, I'm sure you can too), and can take care of your camera (I don't recommend this for a teenager that'll slap this around) this is really a great camera for the price.
I really like this camera. Really a four and a half stars. Lots of goodies on this one. Great optical zoom! Battery lasts a long time. Easy to use. Guys with big hands will find Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical easier to use than smaller pocket-sized cameras. Nice sized screen. Only real drawback is the delay after taking a shot, which makes Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical very difficult to take shots in rapid succession.

great gift idea for a first time digi cam owner. the item was purchased as a gift for a first time digital camera owner. the instructions are very clear and precise with pictures that help explain each function of the camera. after seeing some of the pictures taken with the camera one can be truly amazed at what such a small thing can do. crisp clear pictures. zoom in and out. ed Canon Powershot A1000IS 10MP camera pictures on computer after downloading from the camera. lots lots more. great for a beginner and can give you pohtographer quality.

A great camera for what you pay for !!!! A+. At that price of less than 150 bucks including taxes you won't find a better camera with all the features than Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP Canon !!!! and almost forget, it's a Canon !!!! that say a lot to me !!!
Easy to use for a child. I bought this camera for my 7 year old granddaughter as a Christmas gift so she could take Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP along on our Disney vacation in the spring. She loved Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP - easy to use. She took so many pictures at Christmas that the batteries had to be replaced within 24 hrs. The pictures were easy to download and the quality of the photos was good - clear, nice color, no blurring. We were very pleased with the camera, especially for the reasonable price.
Not pleased. I bought this camera for my parents as a Christmas gift. I read all the reviews and Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP sounded like a straight forward point and shoot camera that they would enjoy. My first disappointment was that the cover for the batteries is difficult to open and close and the door itself appears flimsy. Now my father has informed me that the camera only takes three pictures and the batteries are dead! Spend the extra money and buy a better camera. I wish I had!
